Is the Web helping our education?

Every year education upgrades a little bit. Before, you would see the students going to the library reading for hours searching for information they needed but now it’s a lot easier thanks to the internet and the Web. Now a days with a simple click I basically get my homework done. It is definitely a big change in the education department. In the years before, you would enter a classroom and see that they taught the students a completely different way that how they do now. Now you would see almost every student with a computer, a phone or a tablet taking a class or studying through it, which is a great advancement because education isn’t for everyone so when you make it more exciting the students begin to have interest. I’m a student that likes school but I still think that investing in computers and other technological resources is a great investment because of the reason I mentioned, it makes it more interesting for the students who don’t like school.

I have to be honest, even though I like the idea of investing in new technological resources I also think that having a lot of technology around us is not the best. I say this because we are getting used to the Web and internet a lot and sometimes we just have to think for ourselves and not depend on this tool that we have, which is great and all, but we can’t always be using it. I’m not much of a reader but sometimes I would like to go through the hard work of reading through many books to find what I was looking for instead of having the answer in seconds because I think that we need to let our brains work hard. To me going through all that trouble also teaches us that we need to work hard for what we want and maybe depending all the time in the internet teaches us the opposite.

To give this topic an end I would say I’m in the middle because technology, the Web and the internet are amazing tools which can help many students learn but the other thing that I’m saying is that we shouldn’t use it that much. We should learn how to balance it.
