Abuse and harassment are recurring problems that can be seen in different kinds of professions but, for the sake of this blog, I will talk about how constant it is seen in journalism and the varying branches in communications. Since this issue commonly happens to women, I will explain their take on this topic.

A survey done on this matter clearly states that this has occurred not only to journalists but also to reporters, people that work with cameras and equipment, editors, among other individuals. This has even directly affected people that works both in newspapers and in the radio. Furthermore, most of  whom have committed the offense are in a higher position than the victim. An example of such a person would be a supervisor. There are some occasions in which this has also been perpetrated by a coworker as well.

Abuse and harassment is becoming an increasingly worrisome issue and this can be clearly seen in the statistics found here: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/12/02/women-journalists-abuse-harassment-office-study_n_4372764.html
