Let’s define what cinematography actually means. cinematography is the act of capturing the perfect photographic image. in the powerpoint presented below goes over all the elements to capturing that perfect image. It talks about the the camera lens, the frames, film speed, the scale, etc. and how each of these shots affects the mood of the scene and manipulates what the audience feels.

Even though I haven’t seen the latest movie La La Land I can’t help, but talk about it. Since, I’m talking about cinematography and this movie won the golden globe for best cinematography. I’ve seen screenshots of the movie and the fact is it looks amazing and we can clearly see that they thought out all the shots carefully, so that they can produce the perfect film.

Some movies can have an amazing story and good actors, but if the cinematography was sloppy and badly done then the movie would probably end with a bad reputation. Cinematography is one of, if not, the most important element when making a movie. It shouldn’t be taken lightly, because the shot or angle can be taken the wrong way and the audience will get the wrong idea and that is exactly what you don’t want.
