Ever since he was little, Jacob Portman enjoyed the little stories that his grandpa Abe would tell him. As his grandpa would say, there existed an orphanage where kids that had some sort of peculiarity lived there, to specify on his discoveries, he would show pictures of the peculiar children. But as Jacob grew older, he started believing less on what his grandfather would say. Until one day, a family tragedy occurs in which he got left with clues and to search for this abandoned orphanage on a mysterious island.
This book is my all time favorite. When I bought it, I thought: Well, the floating girl looks creepy so it has to be a horror book” Wrong, it is not a horror book but it is actually pretty creepy due to the fact that the pictures that the book presents, are actually real. Now, the book is a series, it has 2 more books: “Hollow City” and “Library of Souls” In which both are amazing, and very well written. I got so obsessed with this book that I started searching for more information about it and i found out that there was gonna be a movie made about it. I got so excited i couldn’t wait for it to come out.

The movie was directed by the great Tim Burton. Now, since the movie was inspired by the book, I expected it to actually be like the book. Totally wrong. The movie was not bad but it was not good. See, if you did not read the book you may have liked it, but if you did read it like me, you will be exactly at my position right now. I did not like the movie due to the fact that the majority of the characters were all different, they even mixed up the names, and the lovers. The whole story changed, and even kinda mixed some stories that belonged to the other books. Clearly i wanted my money back. The things that I actually liked was the fact that they got the perfect actress, Eva Green, to play Miss Peregrine. Her facial expressions and the way she acted was exactly how I imagined Miss Peregrine to be, and the island where Jacob goes to discover the abandoned orphanage.
I recommend you to see the movie without reading the book. You will enjoy it and actually fall in love with Jacob Portman. But, if you are a bookworm like me, then read the book and see the movie afterwards so you can understand what I’m talking about.
