At the start of the personal roller coaster that Pokemon Sun and Moon have become for me, we got our 7th set of adorable starter pokemon.

It was ok, we got grass-type Rowlet, fire-type Litten (my favorite ofcourse. Ofcourse because cat.), and least liked, water-type Popplio (I even felt bad writing that. You’re cute Popplio).

Adorable for sure.

But, two days ago we got their first evolution.

I’m not particularly happy.

I mean…

I don’t know…

I can’t really complain, because starters’ first evolutions are always sort of going through that teenage awkward phase, but I feel that with these one they really took it up a notch.

We got grass-type, emo-phase Dartrix, fire-type, rebel-phase Torracat, and… steoreotypical-femenine-but-can-be-either-gender Brionne.

NOW, I acknowledge this is a totally unpopular opinion, and that my masculinity is fragile, but, really my problems is in the eyes. I don’t mind the dress like bottom, but the eyes have stereotypical girly/kawaii “eyelashes”. And that’s my real problem. They talked about this on Kotaku, and they did make a point that this isn’t anything new. Just like Gallade, Gardevoir, or Machoke, that have stereotypical male/female appearance. But I feel like they went out of their way to make it feminine.

Personally, I really like it when they make female and male pokemon different. I like the diversity. But if not, I like them to be neutral.

I still like its design, tho. And I look forward to lots of Dartrix gifs.
