” Doctors have come from distant cities just to see me, stand over my bed disbelieving what they’re seeing. They say I must be one of the Wonders of god’s own creation and as far as they can see they can offer no explanation”                                                                                                                         – Natalie Merchant, “Wonder”

August Pullman is an ordinary 10 year old boy. Well, I wouldn´t say ordinary. See, he was born with a syndrome called Mandibulofacial Dysostosis, in which makes his face deformed. Since he was a little kid, people would run from him, scream, do stuff as if he carried some kind of Plague. But as he describes: “The only reason I’m not ordinary is that no one else sees me that way” Since he was “different”this prevented him from going to an ordinary school. Until now. The question is: How will the kids from his new school react to this new outcome? Will they get past the horrors and see August as the person he is?

This book has to be my all time favorite. Not only does it help you expand the knowledge of this rare disease, but also to send the message that no matter how you were sent to this universe, you can overcome the world. This is a book that makes you cry, laugh, and even a little bit of hope. It is important to always be kind to one another and accept the fact that kids like August are normal people like you. They’re just that Wonder that the universe brings us.

As I was searching for more information about the book. I found out that in 2017 there will be a movie released about this book. It was a very exciting moment. Hopefully the movie is as good as the book. If you want more information about the movie, check out IMDb. There isn’t that much information due to the fact that the movie is in process of making. But, if you’re curious on how August looks, you may see in the Images of the link in IMDb.
