No Internet

The real world can be stressful and boring. That’s why I consider myself a frequent internet user. Don’t let the word ”frequent” fool you; that doesn’t translate to being an addict. I use it a lot during the day, but I always succeed at not letting it turn me into a couch potato. In fact, there are people that can’t have a normal life because sitting in front of the computer is their priority.

You can see me talking to my friends on Facebook, looking at Twitter, YouTube, movies and websites to distract my mind or make time go by. There are times where I use it to educate myself by reading about a lot of things I didn’t know about. For me, it’s about entertainment, communication and education. Life is tough for me and has always been; so the internet is what I use to numb the pain, in other words, my favorite form of escapism.

There is something people don’t realize about themselves: they’re surfing the web almost all day. Why do we use it so much? Truth is, there is so much to do in the virtual world. It’s easy to read a book, find information, listen to music and more these days thanks to the internet. No wonder we get lost in that virtual world that distances ourselves from reality. We have the power to control it and take advantage of it. Stress can be relieved by just searching for your favorite song or movie in the web. Meanwhile, work, university and every aspect of the real world is hard to control. Which one do we prefer? Obviously, the one where we can run away from reality. Watch out, though. Time goes by; and it can turn into an addiction.

Would I go back to the time where society lived without the internet?

My answer is short and simple: yes. Society needs to take back all the time they have wasted browsing the web. There needs to be more time to go out, socialize, etc. Cutting the cord is necessary sometimes to increase productivity.
