When Blood Turns.
Hello everyone! Today I will be reviewing the the first book of the trilogy by Michelle Zink, Prophecy of the sisters. The trilogy goes by the same name. I read this novel like five years ago so the details are a bit foggy.

The novel is a bit slow passed but incredibly entertaining. The series is categorized as Gothic fantasy just like A temptation of Angels, also by Michelle.
We are presented two twin sisters that have recently become orphans. Lia and Alice Milthorpe were very close until then, they have become enemies. As they start to figure out their roles in a prophecy that has turned generations of sisters against each other.
Like any other novel you are sucked in by something romantic somewhere, don’t get me wrong this is not the main subject in the story. But Lia has this confusing yet adorable relationship with a charming guy called James. To escape from a dark fate and to remain in the arms of her beloved boyfriend, Lia must end the prophecy before her sister does.
There’s a lot of elements that are very interesting along the story, like this mark that randomly appeared of the sisters like a tattoo and it has relation with their parents deaths. Also the combination of 19th century lifestyle, mythical creatures, and other things are what make it interesting.
I did not love the book when I read it, maybe because I was so young and couldn’t really understand the theme or how it was evolving. But I didn’t like it enough to buy the sequel. I pretty much think that the slow passe that Michelle used is what takes away the full experience of reading.
I rate this book 2 stars out of five but I still recommend it and maybe I’ll read the sequels so we will see if it gets better of if it goes down hill or if it just stays the same.
Enjoy your reading!
