Hello there! It’s me again, dishing out a bit of information that I find interesting, with this week being the first many down the line. In this post, there will be information about a major update of a game that I love and enjoy called Rainbow Six Siege. If you’re unfamiliar, Rainbow Six Siege is a 5 vs 5 real time tactical shooter with the attacking team trying to get into a certain building and the defenders trying to stall them out as much as possible before completing the objective given. It’s filled with many characters with different designs, aspects, weaponry and abilities that can truly turn the tied of any gunfight and make a great impact in the round, such as manipulating the map to one’s favor or to simply have a more explosive entry into a room

This year, Ubisoft has given us a huge amount of information about the new season, called operation Void Edge:

-A rework of the famed map Oregon
-Balance Changes
-Equipment changes
-2 new Operators
-And more!

Oregon Rework

-One of the original maps back when the game had just came out, Oregon is now getting a new polish to ensure the map stays competitive friendly and adaptable to the new operators that came out in the years after. These new addition can be seen in the video below, along with the comparison of the old map with the new one:

Balance Changes

-With any big update to Rainbow Six Siege, comes big balance changes with in-game mechanics and such. The biggest being the removal of debris as one tries to open the barricades, which are used to close off doors and certain windows. Back in the original game release up to till now, whenever someone were to melee the barricade, the piece of wood would blast out to the other side, giving a strong indicator of where the person might open up from; with the new update, this effect will be removed, with now the piece simply vanishing, this was done to avoid a current issue where the piece of wood would stay stuck in the barricade, causing that it’s almost impossible to see through.

-We also see the removal of Clash, being the 3rd time she has been removed from the game for a period of time over an exploit of sorts. While the last 2 times was due to a devastating glitch that would cause her to shoot with still in shield deployment mode, this one is less harmful but still an issue. Due to Oryx’s ability being able to stun down enemies and Clash being a walking shield, they could both work together in a very effective.. maybe too effective manner, in which caused many unfair fights with the two working together. Hopefully this exploit will be fixed before reaching the live servers this Monday.

Equipment changes
With the balance changes, certain operators have gotten some equipment swaps in order to make the competition fair and to enhance some underwhelming characters, keeping up a high pick-rate:

-Castle acquiring the Super Shorty secondary shotgun.
-Maverick, Ying and Nook getting frag grenades in favor of their clay-mores.
-Recruit, a classic favorite of the community, now receives a major rework in which he has less weapons to work with, but now with his exclusive line-up, he’s able to use enhancements such as sights, barrels and such, in which before they were unable too, plus they now have more equipment to work with such as more grenades, more reinforcements for walls and such.

Void Edge New Operators: Oryx and Iana

Oryx
-Oryx is a Jordanian Defense Operator with the ability to.. pretty much bench press the entire map, I’m joking of course- Oryx’s abilities vary in terms of how he uses his strength and extreme speed to tackle down and stun enemies, leaving them wide open for the kill. He also has an ability in which lets him climb up hatches, being the only defender to do so and the second operator, first being Amaru, to be able to do so, although he does have the option to watch and go up, or go down if he believes it won’t end well. He also has the iconic MP5 SMG or SPAS-12 in terms of primary, the Bailiff 410 or USP40 for the secondary and Barbed Wire or a Bulletproof Camera as an additional gadget. He’s a 2 armor and 2 speed and seems very balanced, a fun operator to wait for sure.

Iana
-Iana is a Dutch Attacker Operator with a space-ops background and white hair, apparently- Anyways, Her ability is to create a hologram of herself and being able to roam across the map for a period of time, being able to see around the map and bait enemies into thinking it’s the real Iana, although you can’t shoot as a hologram and it’s easily destroyed but can be deployed after a few seconds. Her main weapons are the G36C or the ARX200 assault rifles, the Mk1 9mm pistol and frag grenades or smoke grenades as additional gadgets. She’s a 2 armor and 2 speed and seems to be a fun operator that’s team heavy, can’t wait to see team plays alongside her hologram to bait and clear out rooms.
