It’s graduation season and many students are still lost on the path to deciding what they want to study. Many go for the usual majors like biology or education, others decide to pursue a major related to the arts. One of these arts is music, and recently there has been a new addition to the number of colleges that offer a music major here in Puerto Rico. Some of this institutions are the Conservatorio de Música de Puerto Rico, the Universidad Interamericana de Puerto Rico, the Universidad de Puerto Rico Rio Piedras Campus, and more recently, the Universidad del Sagrado Corazón (USC).

Even though USC’s music program is very new, it is a very complete and professional program. Its curriculum ranges from classes like music theory and harmonies, to technical execution and foro performance, two classes were you work on your instrument and better your performing skills. The degree also requires that you complete three credits in a musical group. This could be in the university’s concert choir, in the Conjunto Sagrado Musical, or in Colectivo Paraíso, USC’s musical groups that are endorsed by the music program.

USC’s music program is really good, I can vouch for it since I am a part of it. I really do hope that you consider attending USC to study music.
