Last Wednesday the Instituto de Artes Musicales (Institute of Musical Arts) at the Universidad del Sagrado Corazón had its spring concert. It was a concert to showcase all the work the institute has put in during the semester and to allow the students to have new experiences where they present themselves before an audience.

Some of the groups that showcased their talent were Colectivo Paraíso, the school choir, and Conjunto Sagrado Musical, of which I am a part of.

I was really excited for this concert because besides of singing some choral repertoire we were also gonna be singing Carnaval de Barrio, a song from the musical In The Heights by Lin Manuel Miranda. It was a really nerve-wreaking experience, this was due to the fact that for the first time I had a little solo in a song, but I’m still really glad that we did it.

Seeing the results of this concert made me really happy because it showed that the institute is, slowly but surely, growing in a lot of positive aspects. Just this year I decided to double major in music and I couldn’t had chosen to do it in a better place.
