Tell me the first thing you do in the morning when you wake up is NOT look at your phone. If you agreed, chances are, you are really good at lying to yourself! But hey don’t fret, its okay! This is the 21st century, baby!

Whether we like it or not, we’re all modern day slaves to our phones and the technology it brings us. We search, scroll, like and retweet in the blink of an eye. That being said, I’m pretty sure most of us wouldn’t dream of going a single minute without it, let alone an hour or a day. And you know what? That’s fine. No, really, its okay. But we might have to tone it down a little bit considering that some of us actually want to try having IRL (In Real Life) friends instead of followers who “liked” that shirt you wore yesterday.

Don’t get me wrong, you can have both. I think. But I find it to be much more satisfying to try our best and let go of all those cellphone screens that bind us. Its refreshing! I should know. A few years ago, me and my friends decided to enjoy each others company rather than stare at our phones for a whole weekend. It was amazing! You wouldn’t believe the difference it made for everyone.

Now, I will not lie and tell you that i’m so NOT tempted to check my phone right now. Because I am. ALL THE TIME! It’s crazy. But fear not my dear friends. We can overcome this disease. We shall rise against technology like Will Smith in I Robot. We shall use it only when necessary. Or try, at least. Finally, it should be hard and it should be confusing but we’re already smart and clever enough without the help of a little phone in our pockets. Aren’t we?
