Cloud Computing Group Presentation: *Warning! Presentation is in Spanish!*

For my Informatics class I had to do a group project with two really cool dudes about present and future technology. The theme for our presentation was cloud computing and dang, is it cool! I didn’t realize how necessary it had become until I did the research for this assignment. Heck, to top it all of, we even did the whole presentation on Google Drive. How’s that for cloud computing?

Anyways, here are some web resources in the realm of Cloud Computing. Check it out. You might end up learning something new.????

I. Websites

  1. IBM Cloud https://www.ibm.com/cloud-computing/ Under the IBM umbrella, this is a website that offers products, solutions and services in the world of Cloud Computing. Also discusses the industries in which it is used and offers helpful advice if you wish to learn more. Seems ideal for business.
  2. Dropbox https://www.dropbox.com Even though I discussed this app in the Powerpoint presentation above, I want to reiterate it because if you are new to cloud computing and want to dip your toes in the water in regards to this cutting-edge technology, you should try it out. It’s a product, and company, made to be user-friendly, easy to access, with all the information on how to get started clearly started on their website. Plus, IT’S FREE! 

  3. Google Cloud Platform https://cloud.google.com  Created for businesses, Google Cloud is able to manage and store information and work in a safe and uniform way.  Plus, it is easily accessible and user-friendly. 

  4. Rackspace https://www.rackspace.com A private company that is the largest cloud computing provider across the globe. Great place for business and companies who need to have their information on a cost and space-saving platform with easy accessibility and maximum security.
  5. IEEE Cloud Computing http://cloudcomputing.ieee.org This non-profit website is an online magazine for computers and a good source for information on the uses of Cloud Computing and it’s perfect to help you keep up to date with this important tech. 

II. Blogs

  1. IBM Cloud Computing News https://www.ibm.com/blogs/cloud-computing/ This blog, under the IBM Umbrella, provides “Insights, news and analysis for the cloud community.” Great blog for new and cutting edge information if you want to stay informed. Also the blog is divided into categories so you don’t have to scroll down a million posts to find a particular subject in the world of Cloud Computing.
  2. InfoWorld Cloud Computing http://www.infoworld.com/blog/cloud-computing/ This  cloud computing blog, written by David S. Linthicum, specializes in software as a service or “Saas”. Also the blog offers a bit of news, helpful advice and tips inside how to use this vital form of web storage.
  3. Cisco Blogs http://blogs.cisco.com/cloud A blog, under the Cisco umbrella, with posts from different intellectuals and professionals in the field of cloud computing that discuss different advances, breakthroughs and talking points.
  4.  ZDNet – Software as Services http://www.zdnet.com/blog/saas/ Very informative blog in the “Saas” branch of Cloud Computing and business applications that are “on-demand.”
  5. Cloud Tech http://www.cloudcomputing-news.net At first glance Cloud Tech looks like just another cloud computing website. But after reading some of the articles you notice that it’s a giant blog! Written by knowledgable people in the field, this blog covers a wide variety of topics about this cool web technology.

  1. What is Cloud Computing? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ae_DKNwK_ms  Video that explains what is cloud computing in the business world and why is it important. Also explains the power, convenience and cost efficiency of Cloud Computing.
  2. The Three Ways to Cloud Compute https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SgujaIzkwrE&feature=share  Video explaining the three ways to cloud compute: software of service (Saas), Platform of service (Paas) and infrastructure of service (Iass). These three ways “allow users to run applications  and store data online.”
  3. Cloud Computing – How it all works https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TTNgV0O_oTg&feature=share   Friendly video explaining the easy ways we can cloud compute without even realizing it and how it works, utilizing a very clear and concise example
