Mariestella Colón Astacio, is a Painter born in Hato Rey, Puerto Rico. She Studied at the San Juan League of Art Students and at the Central School of Visual Arts in Santurce. In 1988, she won the National Talent Search Award of the Pratt Institute of New York, where she later earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1992. Through the institution’s exchange program, she Traveled to Venice for three months, that year she Devoted to painting and showing her work. In 1994 she completed her Master of Arts at New York University. In 1999, she designed GalleryArtist.com to Promote and expose emerging artists to a global audience with online exhibitions of artists from Germany, Hawaii, Israel, England, Japan, Switzerland, Puerto Rico, and the United States. Since 2002 she has been a member of the Board of Trustees of NurtureART Non-Profit Inc. in New York. She has participated in collective exhibitions in Single and Puerto Rico, the United States, Italy, and Argentina. She has received awards in competitions sponsored by the Municipality of San Juan and the Pratt Institute in New York. Her abstract paintings explore the issues of perception in contemplation, the macro and micro. She Also Works with the concept of fertility and creation. ”Watercolor, acrylic crayon on canvas” are most used in this exhibition, a very refreshing concept of colors and techniques. My two hours stay was worth it in this exhibition. I was very pleased to see so beautiful paintings.
